7 SHIPS

The river blackens as it goes under a bridge
My thoughts drift endlessly and blacken too
I thought i heard a tree against my window ledge
And as the cattle yawned i retired to my bed

It's dark across the sky and seven ships of water
Are sleeping at the bottom of the sea
My boots fall off my toes and i fall to sleep

Now i must draw the curtains from the rain
I do not want to see a droplet again
I want to see the hills before they separate
And follow the paths toward my blooming fate

It's dark across the sky and seven ships of water
Are sleeping at the bottom of the sea
My boots fall off my toes and i fall to sleep

BROWN RIVER

I dug out my final coppers like a rat scavenges corpses
To throw down the wishing well, to the dank bottom it fell
I cannot recollect what my mind was perched or standing upon
But some thing squeezed through my lips,
Letters I could not resist

O am I such a lowly hand
To in the rain have horses stand
The breeze brought with it heather scent
The brown river flows o'er my head
Brown river flow over my head

(The) bumblebees are losing their
Tails and scatter quickly 'fore their nights
Have them sleep upon the waves, have them sleep in circles
(And) her chambers are soft and warm, and I will see them f'revermore
In a shade of blurry brown, in a leg-limbed brevity

And now the limp clouds turn away
Here I stand I am not afraid
Just as the prophecies said
The brown river flows o'er my head
Brown river flow over my head

MIRROR

I left the door upon it's latch
With the key dangling sleepily
The swept floor, upon the thatch
Sit the three strangling men in tweed,
Seen from the deceptive hills
And the moon with shadows stretched
Out

What seemed a frenzy was merely embracing,
Sucked into the valleys for darkness to feed;
Hot leaves a-melting, in the soup they're tasting,
Look simple to many more barking steeds
Hunger made them blood-boltered.
Asunder beneath shade these blow - in's bolted
To enter my home and my bed.
To enter my home

Green and awake only brushing with pride,
She gives me a wink and with one I reply
A newsagent's grimace with papers to sell
Walked into the forest, fell under it's spell

Esteem can make soldiers crushing and snide
With snivelling stink and cat - cut eyes,
A pew fails and breaks while a holy hymn tells, of
The difference that lies between heaven and hell

I stumbled under a tree
And in sickness sucked the root.
Someone plundered the sheen
That once licked the spoils

IN-CREEK

Allow me, to help you down
And we will, retreat to your place of clouds
In my small life i have seen, cold winds slighted by the trees
Paths only walked by stray horses, hold the rolls of ghostly carriage wheels

And when our feet land, my love.
Like leaves in wind they will dance
In my youth i walked these fields, the footprints in the heather remain.
Whipped as i am as a slave, i pray the overgrowth blocks the rain
The Rain

WINTER

Here He Lies,
Sleeping Eyes,
Finding Parts of The Road To Lick,
Crawling Forward Like A Dead Animal.
19 Years I've Been Running From Winter

Golden Baby Is Resting
In The Hills
Like The Polyester
(Which Touches The Small Of My Back)

Rest In Me And Warm My Chest,
I'll Stop The Rivers Freezing,
Give Me A Date And Time ; Give Me A Date In Time.
Tell Me A Secret In Blinks,
Pace 12 Steps Forward and Back,
Give Me A Date And Time
